Meet The Doctors

(Sonia) Soo Hyun Lim, Pediatric Dentist

Dr. (Sonia) Soo Hyun Lim is a board-certified pediatric dentist and a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She received her doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and completed two years of specialty training in pediatric dentistry at Lutheran Medical Center in New York. She has taught at NYU College of Dentistry and Mount Sinai Hospital. She published her research studies on evaluating the efficacy of topical anesthetics in the Pediatric Dentistry Journal in 2004. She has held privileges in several hospitals in New York while developing expertise in treating special needs children.

Her expertise in behavioral approach to dentistry has gained traction not only among the high-end dental offices but also among the children and families of the Native American tribe in Tacoma, Washington. After crisscrossing the country with her physician-husband, she has finally returned to Southern California to raise their children close to her family.

She is now residing in La Canada and is an active member of La Canada PTA. As a mother of two school-aged children herself, her gentle and patient approach to treatment makes dental visits easy and comfortable. She is able to empathize with parents and understand how parents feel when their children experience dental treatments.

Erica Kim, Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Erica is a board-certified pediatric dentist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is a native to Pasadena and attended both Mayfield Junior and Senior School. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California, her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from University of Southern California, and additionally completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at UCLA School of Dentistry. Pursuing her love of working with children, Dr. Erica completed her advanced pediatric dental training at NYU-Lutheran Medical Center based in Tucson, Arizona, where she also had the privilege of serving as a chief resident.

Dr. Erica truly enjoys and loves working with and being around children. She has a friendly, patient-centered, and conservative approach to providing high-quality and compassionate dental care. She strives to make each visit enjoyable, safe, and informative for not only the children but also the parents. She believes education and prevention are powerful tools to aid children toward healthy lifelong smiles.

She is an active member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and California Society of Pediatric Dentistry.

During her spare time, Dr. Erica enjoys spending time outdoors, staying active (from running half marathons to hiking to learning to surf), trying different foods, and traveling with friends and family.
